This community is the heart of Etobicoke, and was home to the former Etobicoke City Hall and City Centre. Located between Rathburn and Dundas, and from Kipling west to Renforth Creek, the community is home to families of diverse incomes and cultures. Originally an 1800s farming community, Timothy Eaton (of Eaton Stores fame) bought much land in the area for a farm, and donated some of it for a local school, which was named Eatonville in his honour. When the farm was subdivided for development I the 1950s, the Eatonsville school was rebuilt, and in 1980 the historic Peter Shaver "Applewood" homestead was moved to The West Mall to be a museum.
