There are many taxi companies in Victoria. Some do well with telephone reservations, others have stands at major shopping malls or hotels. If you are not in Victoria, the city, use a taxi company based in the city where you are staying or visiting... they'll usually be quicker to pick you up.

Rates for taxi are $2.40 to start plus about $1.40 per kilometre. You can usually get around downtown for around $7. Trips between downtown and the international Airport are about $40-45.

Blue Bird Taxi (250 382-4235) has 3 wheelchair-accessible mini-vans, also available for excess luggage.

Oh, yes, and if your driver was courteous and helpful, it is the custom to tip him (or her)! Tips on tipping.
